The number of electric vehicles in Uzbekistan is growing rapidly. According to the National Statistics Committee, as of July 1, 2025, there were 73.6 thousand registered electric vehicles. This indicates a growing demand for environmentally friendly and cost-effective means of transportation.
The region with the highest number of electric vehicles is the city of Tashkent, with 55,826 registered units. A significant share is also observed in the following regions: Tashkent region – 5,262 units, Samarkand region – 2,075 units, Kashkadarya region – 1,519 units, Fergana region – 1,509 units, and Khorezm region – 1,659 units.
The region with the lowest number of registered electric vehicles is Surkhandarya region, with 203 units. These differences are attributed to the level of infrastructure development, the financial capacity of the population, and the availability of charging stations.
Today, Tashkent ranks high in global air pollution ratings, which is attributed to its large population, high vehicle density, industrial activity, and tree cutting. From this perspective, electric vehicles represent a viable alternative to other means of transportation.
Vehicles running on traditional fuels emit harmful substances into the air, such as carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Electric cars, on the other hand, do not release dangerous gases while in motion. This is a significant advantage not only for the environment but also for human health. The quiet operation of electric vehicles also contributes to reducing urban noise.
Today, people are not ready to completely give up cars and switch to bicycles or public transport. Although walking is part of a healthy lifestyle, this choice requires comfortable conditions, safety, and time. For most citizens, the electric vehicle is a convenient and environmentally friendly means of transport.
Moreover, the incentive to purchase them is growing. Preferential customs procedures, an increase in the number of charging stations, and the development of service facilities contribute to the growth of this sector.
Every newly registered electric vehicle is a conscious choice of modern society, a step towards cleaner air, and therefore towards a healthier life and an environmentally sustainable future.
