16:45 / 2024-05-14

Tashkent hosts a Central Asia Regional Expert Council meeting on rehabilitation and reintegration of returnees from armed conflict zones.

The event is organized by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies (ISRS) under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the State Security Service, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Committee for Family and Women’s Affairs of the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, as well as the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), created jointly with the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan.

ISRS Director Eldor Aripov noted that the fight against terrorism is becoming one of the most important tasks facing the international community.

“The development of specific measures to solve it requires joint efforts”, says Mr. Aripov. “Terrorism does not choose borders, nationality, or religion. By establishing the activities of the Council, we are witnessing the emergence of regional institutionalization aimed at ensuring the effectiveness of our collective efforts in this direction”.
