As part of the ongoing “Central Asia – European Union” summit in Samarkand, the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, participated in a meeting with a delegation led by the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso.
The meeting was also attended by other representatives of Uzbekistan, including Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjayev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov, as well as heads of various ministries and agencies.

The discussions focused on accelerating the implementation of existing agreements and developing new investment projects. It was also noted with satisfaction that Uzbekistan has been the EBRD’s largest partner in the region over the past five years.

Since its operations began in Uzbekistan, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has approved financing for 173 projects and programs across various sectors of the economy, with a total value exceeding €5.4 billion. Of these, 20 projects, totaling €1.9 billion, have been completed. Work is underway on 14 projects worth €3.5 billion, and documentation is being finalized for 29 projects with a total value of €3.6 billion.

The meeting included a detailed review of projects supporting the private sector through public-private partnerships, including initiatives to support women’s and youth entrepreneurship, the development of the banking sector, and the modernization of education, healthcare, and water supply systems.

The head of the EBRD delegation expressed readiness to increase further direct investment in the green economy and the corporate sector.
