The President had previously instructed officials to ensure the inclusion of the qobyz, a traditional Karakalpak musical instrument, and the art of Jirov in UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Efforts to fulfill this task are ongoing.

The qobyz is a unique national musical instrument of the Karakalpak people, while the art of Jirov represents an integral part of Karakalpakstan’s intangible cultural heritage.

UNESCO has produced a documentary film dedicated to the qobyz musical instrument and the heritage of Jirov art.
