The Ecology Museum, a branch of the State Museum of History and Culture of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, houses more than 300 exhibits.

The museum has been restored, expositions about history, nature, flora and fauna, customs and lifestyle of the population have been updated to attract tourists to the Aral Sea region and Muynak district. There are historical objects and photographs, works of fine and applied arts.

At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries, several Russian artists worked on the shores of Amudarya and the Aral Sea. They created many works mainly in the genres of “moraine”, “landscape”. The museum houses works of painters F. Madgazin and R. Matevosyan. Each work created by the artists reminds of the old days, when the Aral Sea was full of water.
