The session of the International Press Club on “New reforms in business and banking sectors of Uzbekistan: important tasks for 2019, open analysis and modern problem solving” was devoted to issues mentioned in the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Oliy Majlis.

Ongoing changes in these spheres, their goals and objectives were discussed at the session. In particular, as the Head of the state noted, the most important problem in the banking system today is that 83 percent of the banks’ capital belong to the state. This impedes healthy competition and negatively affects the quality of provided services.

– In accordance with the President’s Address, 4 of our priority areas have been identified, – said Chairman of the Board of the Central Bank Mamarizo Nurmuratov. – The first is to ensure price stability, since attracting investment depends on macroeconomic stability. The second is further liberalization of monetary policy. The third is intensification of reforms in banking and financial system, introduction of modern market mechanisms, stabilization of banks. The fourth is strengthening dialogue between banks and customers, entrepreneurs. Another important task is to increase the culture of banking services, reducing the role of human factor. We intend to change the management, the mechanism of providing services of all commercial banks.
