By the order of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of December 29, 2023, Javlon Abdujalolovich Vakhabov was appointed Director of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA).

Until this point, J. Vakhabov had served as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States, Canada, and Brazil from 2017 to 2023.
