Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister of Tourism and Sports Aziz Abdukhakimov received a delegation of the aviation departments of Qatar.

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, this visit is associated with the preparation of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Air Communication between Uzbekistan and Qatar, as well as the establishment of direct passenger flights between the two countries.

Department Head at Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, Mohammed Faleh Al Hajri, noted that Uzbekistan has a huge tourism potential and rich historical and cultural heritage, which are of great interest to the residents of Qatar. In his opinion, the signing of an agreement on air traffic between Uzbekistan and Qatar will serve as an impetus for further intensifying cooperation between the two countries and increasing tourist and business exchange.

The head of Qatar Airways department, Salam Al Samarrie, confirmed his interest in operating flights to Uzbekistan and using the Open Skies mode, including for attracting tourists from other countries of the Persian Gulf.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed on the earliest possible resolution of the existing issues on the draft agreement and its further signing, as well as on the continuation of the dialogue for the development of cooperation and the implementation of new projects in tourism.
