This was reported by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the fifteenth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of companies and enterprises of Uzbekistan in the export of goods were assisted in participating in international exhibitions organized in the USA, the United Kingdom, Azerbaijan, Russia, Germany, Georgia, Belgium, Bangladesh, India, Italy, Malaysia, Latvia, China, Korea, the Czech Republic, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates. As a result, trade contracts were signed for the amount of about 83.5 million dollars.

This was reported by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the fifteenth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In the matter of attracting foreign investments in January-May 2018, as a result of foreign visits and dialogues, a primary agreement was reached on implementation of 182 prospective projects worth $17 billion. As of June 1 this year, diplomatic missions rendered assistance in implementing various investment projects worth $10.5 billion.

During the discussion, it was noted that there are problems that hinder the more effective implementation of the assigned tasks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In particular, profile departments and khokimiyats do not ensure timely consideration of proposals developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions together with ministries and agencies on issues of export of goods, attraction of investments and tourists.

The senators made recommendations on further increasing the effectiveness of activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Thus, in order to provide the international community with objective information on the progress of reforms and transformations in Uzbekistan, it was noted that “Dunyo” news agency needs to be active in order to conduct an effective and harmonious work on developing trade, economic, investment and tourism cooperation with foreign countries, conduction of work of foreign missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan not on quantitative indicators, but on quality, as well as on issues of adoption of legislative acts, aimed at building mechanisms for interagency cooperation. Following the discussion, a corresponding resolution of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was adopted.
