Center for Advanced Technologies under the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a foresight session dedicated to the integration of education, science and industry in development of geology.
The event allowed to bring together leading domestic geologists, teachers of universities specializing in training for the local oil and gas industry, as well as representatives of enterprises engaged in development of mineral resources and mining.
The Minister of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov addressed the participants of the foresight session and urged them to participate more actively in development of measures aimed at developing geology, a system for training qualified personnel for the oil and gas industry and improving the quality of scientific research.
At the moment, more than two thousand deposits have been discovered in the country of over 70 types of minerals used in industry. However, stocks that are easy to mine and process are gradually depleted.
I. Abdurakhmonov noted that an agreement aimed at developing and replenishing the mineral resource base of Uzbekistan was signed between the Ministry of Innovative Development and the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Geology and Mineral Resources. It will contribute to the innovative development of the geological industry and stimulate scientific research in this area.
In accordance with the agreement, within the framework of state programs for scientific activity, the Ministry announced a competition with a total amount of 7.2 billion soums. In addition, 38 projects worth 7.5 billion soums are already being implemented, of which 16 projects are basic research, 20 are applied, 1 is an innovative and 1 is an international project.
