The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the Protection of Nature has held a round-table conversation in Navoiy on the subject of “Conducting state ecological expert examination to prevent negative ecological consequences”.

It was noted at the event attended by representatives of the hokimiyat (governorate) of the region, state and public organizations, ecologists and specialists of this sphere and mass media workers that special attention was being paid under the leadership of the country’s President to the protection of the environment, the rational use of natural resources and the prevention of atmospheric pollution.

“Systemic work is being carried out in our country to cushion the negative effect on nature sites, to protect the population’s health and to ensure the stable functioning of ecological systems and the rational use and renewal of natural resources,” says M.Mamadiyorova, chief of the land and water control inspectorate of the Navoiy regional nature protection committee.

In the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On protecting nature” and “On ecological expert examination”, an obligatory procedure for state ecological expert examination is specified, its objects are defined and the implementation of projects without a positive conclusion of ecological expert examination is banned. Measures being taken in accordance with these laws help to protect the environment.

Participants in the event looked at rules established by legislation, procedures and objects of state ecological expert examination.
