A project to develop sustainable agricultural production systems in degraded areas of Karakalpakstan has been named the national winner of the Energy Globe Award 2024.
This success has been achieved thanks to the effective cooperation of several organizations, such as the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the International Innovation Center for Aral Sea Basin (IICAS), the Research Institute of Agriculture of Karakalpakstan. Special recognition should be given to dedication, technical expertise, and the leading role of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA).
The project aims to mitigate the consequences of the environmental crisis in the Aral Sea region and adapt to climate change, developing and implementing stable production systems that are sustainable in Karakalpakstan.
This project, supported by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, is a prime example of effective international cooperation. It underscores the importance of a joint approach to solving the problems of land degradation and sustainable development.
The project is an example on a global scale and inspires the implementation of such initiatives.
