12:23 / 2021-12-09

A new bird species – Desert Finch, or Mongolian finch, which had not previously been found in the Aral Sea region, was discovered within the framework of an investment project for the construction of a wind farm in Karakalpakstan.

According to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, investment projects are being implemented for the construction of solar and wind power plants for the development of green energy.

A two-stage analysis of risks and their impact on the environment is carried out when implementing projects. At the first stage, with the support of international development institutions such as the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the Asian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Ministry of Energy, data are collected throughout the year. Birds, bats, and reptiles are tracked not only in the project area, but also within a radius of 50 kilometers. The number and types of other animals, plants, as well as groundwater are monitored.

The construction of a power plant on the selected site will be allowed after a positive conclusion of the experts.
