Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan meets with the Head of the Administration of the President of Afghanistan

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov has met with the Head of the Administration of the President of Afghanistan Mohammad Shaker Kargar, in Termez.

According to Uzbekistan MIFT, the parties discussed the current issues of cooperation in the political, investment, trade, economic and transport spheres.

The sides considered the project for the construction of the Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar railway, as well as the practical aspects of its implementation.

The urgency of intensifying activities for enhancing the investment partnership between the two countries with an emphasis on the development of industrial cooperation was emphasized. Prospects for deepening trade and economic cooperation were discussed.

It was noted that over the past four years, the trade turnover has grown by one and a half times, amounting to about $800 million last year. The parties confirmed their readiness to implement joint measures to ensure the growth of Uzbekistan – Afghanistan trade turnover to $2 billion in the coming years.

The great potential of the International Trade Center “Termez” was also noted. Issues of interaction in the energy sector were discussed.

The parties also considered the prospects for establishing cooperation in healthcare.
