The head of Uzbekistan Olympic delegation – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and Sports Aziz Abdukhakimov has met with the JICA delegation led by its President Shinichi Kitaoka.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in culture, sports, tourism and education. During the conversation, issues of interaction in the development of Paralympic sports were considered.
The preservation of cultural heritage monuments, the continuation of projects on the digitalization of museum exhibits, and a deep study of the Buddhist heritage in Uzbekistan were noted as another important area of cooperation. Prospects for the popularization of the cultural heritage and tourism potential of Uzbekistan were considered, including the publication of tourist guides. The sides discussed the establishment of air communication between cities, including direct, as well as the attraction of low-cost airlines. Training personnel in tourism between the Silk Road International University and the Nara Prefectural University was considered.
JICA President was proposed to raise cooperation to a qualitatively new level – to establish a joint university in Uzbekistan. An agreement was reached on the creation of a separate JICA department at the Silk Road International University, which will specialize in studies of Japan and the Silk Road.
Shinichi Kitaoka received an invitation to the International Cultural Forum “Central Asia – the crossroads of civilizations” to be held at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan in September.
