Delegation from Samarkand region participates in the UNESCO Session

A delegation from Samarkand region, led by Acting Hokim of the region, Adiz Boboyev, participated in the 47th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, held at the organization’s headquarters in Paris.

The session highlighted Uzbekistan’s achievements in preserving its unique World Heritage sites. The Committee is expected to publish documents shortly concerning the World Heritage sites “Samarkand – Crossroads of Cultures” and “Western Tien-Shan”.

As part of the event, Mr. Boboyev held a meeting with Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. The meeting included an exchange of views on preserving cultural heritage sites and introducing advanced global practices in this field.

Adiz Boboyev spoke about the work being carried out in Samarkand to preserve its unique cultural heritage and to improve the historical center of the city.

Agreements were reached on the further development of cooperation in preserving cultural heritage.

Mr. Boboyev also held a meeting with Arnaud Ngatcha, Deputy Mayor of Paris, during which issues of strengthening cooperation between Samarkand and Paris were discussed. As part of the discussion, specific proposals were presented regarding collaboration in decentralizing local self-government systems, improving management process efficiency, and implementing urban improvement initiatives.
