The Second International Lazgi Dance Festival, organized in Khiva, once again demonstrated the richness and uniqueness of our national dance art.
UzA correspondent interviewed the festival participants.
Sultan Raev, TURKSOY Secretary General:

– The festival organized in Khiva has no analogs in the world. I think it should make a big splash. I recently returned from Paris and Geneva. When they showed the Lazgi dance there, everyone gave a standing ovation. This dance somehow reflects your people’s heart, history, and culture. Lazgi is a phenomenon of Uzbek national culture. We have proposed holding this festival in Turkic-speaking states starting in 2025. The launch of the Third Renaissance in Uzbekistan is significant because it envisages large-scale cultural and educational renewal and upsurge.
Ozodbek Nazarbekov, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan:

– Holding a Lazgi Festival in foreign countries is an excellent, good initiative. This proposal will allow us to take our dances to the world stage.
Gavkhar Matyakubova, People’s Artist of Uzbekistan:

– Nowadays, interest in Lazgi is growing. This dance has gained recognition by being included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Classes on this dance are regularly held as part of the Zoom program. The dances of the Uzbek people serve to strengthen friendship and harmony.
