Cooperation with South Korea enters a new stage
15:26 / 2026-02-11

The development of international cooperation in sports education, the effective use of advanced foreign experience in training highly qualified athletes, and the attraction of investment in the field are among the priorities of state policy.

Relations with higher education institutions in the Republic of Korea in the fields of education and sports, and the implementation of joint projects, are being strengthened. At the expense of investment funds allocated by the Korean side, a modern taekwondo complex is planned to be built at the Uzbek State University of Physical Culture and Sports, serving as a high-tech training base for athletes.

These days, a delegation led by the Rector of this university, R. Matkarimov, is meeting with university representatives in Korea to expand cooperation in education and sports. Meetings were held with the leadership of the Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Academy, Gyeongsang National University, and the Taekwondo Promotion Center. Agreements have been reached to implement new joint projects to develop Olympic sports in Uzbekistan, to exchange student and athlete programs, and to organize training camps within the framework of training and workshops held at the Kukkiwon Academy.

South Korean scientists highly appreciated the consistent reforms aimed at shaping Uzbekistan’s new image. It was noted that further cooperation will help improve the sports education system and develop Olympic sports in both countries.
