Uzbekistan has expanded trade and economic ties with many countries and concluded several agreements.
The scope of cooperation in agriculture and food security has been expanded.
The 10th Meeting of the Joint Uzbekistan – Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission was held in Islamabad.
According to the State Committee for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Development, issues of agricultural cooperation and food security were discussed in detail during the event, along with trade and economic ties. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture J. Abduzukhurov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee A. Akbarov, and Deputy Chairman of the Plant Quarantine and Protection Agency U. Yunusov.
During the discussion, the parties separately noted the importance of the document signed on December 18, 2025, which outlines phytosanitary requirements for the export of pomegranates, grapes, and plums from Uzbekistan to Pakistan. This agreement is considered a significant step toward expanding fruit and vegetable trade between the two countries.
The parties also expressed their readiness to sign a new protocol on phytosanitary requirements for the export of apples, figs, lemons, and hot peppers.
To systematically establish cooperation in phytosanitary matters, an agreement was reached to form a joint working group. They are tasked with importing fruit and vegetable products to markets, strengthening information exchange, and coordinating technical issues.
Special attention was paid to the development of cooperation in animal husbandry.
