The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur is carrying out consistent work on increasing the number of tourists visiting Uzbekistan, promoting tourism potential of Uzbekistan in Malaysia.

At the meeting with representatives of leading travel companies of Malaysia, detailed information was provided on historical and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. The great interest was aroused by the opening prospects of cooperation with Uzbekistan in pilgrimage, gastronomic, winter and sports tourism.

Representatives of Malaysian travel companies emphasized that in recent years, Uzbekistan has dramatically increased its tourism attractiveness by abolishing the visa regime for citizens of more than 70 countries, improving the banking system and launching the new terminal of the international airport in Tashkent. Thanks to this, the tourist flow from Malaysia to the country in January-May this year increased by more than 90 percent compared to the same period of 2018.

The Malaysian side shared its best practices, noting the need for conducting targeted large-scale advertising campaigns.

The parties exchanged views on issues such as ensuring stable operation of tourism infrastructure, improving the transport system, and actively introducing electronic platforms for online payment for hotel, transport and other services.
