The Capacity building program for the creation of integrated management of infectious diseases in Uzbekistan, organized by the KOICA, has been completed.
The event was attended by KOICA representatives in Uzbekistan, led by Director Park Sunjin, professors of Yonsei University in Korea, specialists for the control of infectious diseases in the healthcare system of Uzbekistan, including the Service of Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent Medical Academy, Research Institute of Virology, Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers under the Ministry of Health.
The workshop was organized for medical staff, infectious disease epidemiologists. The main goal of the program was to improve measures for the development of a system of state control over infectious diseases.
“I would like to thank the partners for the constant cooperation with KOICA”, says Ms. Park Sunjin. – I am sure that the trained specialists will make a significant contribution to the improvement of the healthcare system in Uzbekistan. Issues such as the epidemiology and monitoring system of the Republic of Korea, the competence of laboratory tests, effective treatment of infectious diseases were considered. The program is a continuation of accelerated action with a budget of $5 million to combat the negative consequences of the coronavirus pandemic launched in Uzbekistan last year.
KOICA works closely on health and social support. An action plan has been developed, including a detailed project for the future implementation and use of the experience and knowledge gained during the workshop. The participants noted that the Republic of Korea, in particular the KOICA, is providing tremendous assistance to Uzbekistan in the difficult situation with the coronavirus.
“For two weeks, we worked hard to improve the healthcare system with 4 organizations, including the Research Institute of Virology, the Tashkent Medical Academy, the Republican SES and the Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers”, says Sangchul Yoon, Professor of the Department of Medical Humanities and Social Sciences at the Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul. – There were no difficulties with holding the events. My visit to Uzbekistan is always successful.
At the workshop, the participants gained valuable experience. A memorandum was signed between KOICA and the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The program is being successfully implemented in cooperation with KOICA, the Ministry of Health, the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service, the Virology Research Institute, the National Pediatric Medical Center and other relevant medical institutions.
