The delegation of the People’s Republic of China led by the Chairman of the People’s Government of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Erkin Tuniyaz, arrived in Samarkand.

At a meeting between the Hokim of Samarkand region, Erkinjon Turdimov, and the Chairman of the People’s Government of the XUAR, Erkin Tuniyaz, it was noted that relations between Uzbekistan and China, which have been strengthening in recent years, contribute to the development of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the regions of the two states.

Chairman of the People’s Government of the XUAR Erkin Tuniyaz expressed gratitude for the sincere reception and hospitality and noted that the delegation arrived in Samarkand with the intention of strengthening bilateral ties.

The parties exchanged views on the procurement and processing of agricultural products in Samarkand and XUAR, the production of electrical, pharmaceutical, and construction products, the use of tourism opportunities, and the joint implementation of projects.

Mr. Turdimov invited the Chinese side to cooperate in producing construction materials in Pakhtachi district and the chemical industry in Nurabad. He spoke about introducing water-saving technologies and organizing a laboratory for agricultural products in Payaryq district. He also desired to use the best practices of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in cotton seed production and selection.

The Chairman of the People’s Government of the XUAR supported these proposals, instructed those in charge, and called on Chinese entrepreneurs to implement projects in this direction. He invited Samarkand entrepreneurs to the Expo China-Eurasia exhibition, which will be held in Urumqi in June of this year. He also expressed interest in developing cooperation with Samarkand in tourism. Erkin Tuniyaz proposed increasing the number of flights between Urumqi and Samarkand and organizing a flight from Kashgar to Samarkand.

After the meeting, a business forum was held with the participation of leaders and entrepreneurs of Samarkand and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

Bilateral documents were signed to create a working group on regional trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Xinjiang, a tomato paste production project, and other areas of collaboration.

The Directorate of the Urgut Free Economic Zone, the XUAR Development and Reform Commission, the leadership of the city of Urumqi, the Hokimiyat of Nukus district, which is developing based on the experience of Samarkand region, and several large companies presented their presentations. A B2B meeting took place.
