Hokim of Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov met with the President of the UNESCO The Silk Roads Programme José Maria Chiquillo Barber, who participated in the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan as an observer.

Prospects for the development of bilateral relations, as well as strengthening cooperation between Samarkand and Valencia were discussed at the meeting.

“The autonomous province of Valencia is one of the oldest regions in Spain,” said José Maria Chiquillo Barber. – Tourism is the most important branch of the economy of Valencia. More than 15 percent of the region’s working-age population work in this area. Especially in recent years, tourism has become a driving force for economic development in the region. In this regard, it is very important to establish permanent friendly mutually beneficial ties between Valencia and Samarkand.
