Hokim of Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov met with the President of the UNESCO The Silk Roads Programme José Maria Chiquillo Barber, who participated in the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan as an observer.

More than 15 percent of the region’s working-age population work in this area. Especially in recent years, tourism has become a driving force for economic development in the region. Erkinjon Turdimov noted that Spain has achieved great results in tourism and has the advanced experience, and stressed the need for holding Samarkand Days in Valencia and Valencia Days in Samarkand.
