A business forum was held with the participation of entrepreneurs from Tashkent region and Sughd region of Tajikistan.

The event was attended by the Hokim of Tashkent region Zoyir Mirzayev, the head of Sughd region Rajabboy Akhmadzoda, entrepreneurs of the two regions, and representatives of responsible organizations.

First, the guests visited the Azia Tashkent Textile enterprise in Yuqorichirchiq district. The cost of this project, which started in 2022, is $54.4 million. The company produces 10 thousand tons of yarn worth 300 billion UZS per year. All technological equipment is imported from Switzerland and Italy, and 900 jobs have been created here.

The head of Sughd region, Rajabboy Akhmadzoda, got acquainted with the work processes ongoing at the enterprise and talked with the managers. After this, an event was organized to mark the opening of the business forum. It was noted that in recent years, the strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have further developed, and regional cooperation is increasingly enhancing.

At the forum, guests were informed about the economic potential of Tashkent region, and the work carried out in recent years in many areas, such as industry, economics, and tourism. In particular, the foreign trade turnover of enterprises in Tashkent region with Tajikistan in January-April this year amounted to $11.6 million. Among the exported goods, electrical engineering, and building materials, fruits and vegetables predominate.

An exhibition of industrial products was organized at the forum to further expand mutual trade turnover. The heads of the two regions signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
