Cooperation prospects with World Bank
A videoconference was held with participation of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov, Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller, Director of Strategy and Operations in the Middle East and North Africa Region of the World Bank Anna Bjerde.
A videoconference was held with participation of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurzakov, Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller, Director of Strategy and Operations in the Middle East and North Africa Region of the World Bank Anna Bjerde and Bank officials involved in implementation of projects in Uzbekistan.
The current state of implementation of joint projects and agreements related to support by the World Bank of measures taken by the Government of Uzbekistan to combat the spread of COVID-19 infection and its economic consequences, was discussed.
During the dialogue, Mr. Muller expressed special gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for awarding him Dustlik (Friendship) Order, stressing that this event is a recognition of successful work of the entire World Bank team involved in implementation of projects in Uzbekistan.
Further priority areas were outlined following the videoconference, including the reform of aviation, electric power and gas industries, development of a Strategy for reforming the banking system for 2020-2025, Strategy for development of agriculture, Concept for development of higher education system, as well as assistance in tax reforms and improving tax administration.
