The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United Kingdom, Ravshan Usmanov, met with the Director of the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI), Professor Sabina Alkire.

Sabina Alkire appreciated the large-scale reforms and ongoing government programs in New Uzbekistan for poverty reduction, social security, employment, and entrepreneurship development.

Sabina Alkire welcomed the country’s becoming the 63rd member state of the Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network (MPPN) project, which the Center has implemented since 2013. According to her, the MPPN project facilitates cooperation and knowledge sharing among countries and organizations involved in multidimensional measurement and poverty reduction.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to organize a roundtable discussion at OPHI with the Center for Economic Research and Reforms under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
