A meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Takashi Hatori, took place at the International Institute for Central Asia. The parties discussed the current state and prospects for further interaction.
Japan consistently supports the reform program implemented under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Tokyo is actively involved in developing infrastructure and human potential in the country. Such cooperation is vital to achieving common regional priorities.
It was noted that regular consultative meetings of the heads of Central Asian countries play an important role in strengthening trust, good-neighborly relations, and strategic partnership and in discussing current issues on the regional and international agenda.
In this regard, the guest drew attention to the effectiveness of the CA+ formats, including cooperation with his country within the framework of the “Central Asia+ Japan” mechanism.
In addition, the importance of interaction between the parties in exchanging positive experiences in holding joint events and conferences with Japanese think tanks was noted.
The Japanese side expressed its readiness to assist in establishing cooperation between IICA and the Japan Institute of International Affairs, which will further support practical cooperation, strengthen research potential, and organize joint events.
