Cooperation prospects in hydrometeorology are discussed
The First Deputy Director General of the Centre of Hydrometeorological Service of Uzbekistan Bakhriddin Nishanov and Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva Ulugbek Lapasov held a meeting with the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization of the UN (WMO) Petteri Taalas.
The First Deputy Director General of the Centre of Hydrometeorological Service of Uzbekistan Bakhriddin Nishanov and Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva Ulugbek Lapasov held a meeting with the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization of the UN (WMO) Petteri Taalas.
The meeting was held within the framework of Uzbekistan delegation’s participation in the Eighteenth World Meteorological Congress, which is held on June 3-14, 2019 in Geneva.
During the negotiations, WMO Secretary-General Petteri Taalas was informed about ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan in hydrometeorology and support provided by the government in this area.
The WMO Secretary-General highly appreciated Uzbekistan's contribution to the organization's activities, as well as measures taken in the country to further improve the hydrometeorological sphere.
Following the meeting, agreements were reached on organization of a special training course at WMO headquarters in Geneva to improve Uzbekistan specialists’ skills, holding major regional and international WMO events in Uzbekistan in the near future.
