11:12 / 2025-03-29

A meeting with the UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan, Ms. Akiko Fujii, took place at the Institute of Parliamentary Studies at the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The meeting aims to establish cooperation between the Institute and the UNDP, identifying areas of collaboration in the development of scientific concepts and strategies.

The scientific and information-analytical support plays a significant role in improving the activities of the national Parliament. In this regard, the importance of international cooperation, mutual study, and exchange of experience within the framework of legislation is increasing.

During the conversation, Ms. Akiko spoke about the fundamental changes that have taken place in recent years in the activities of the lower house of parliament, including its committees, commissions, and factions of political parties, as well as about the great attention paid to the participation of the scientific community and scientists in the process of preparing and submitting legislative proposals.

In turn, the Director of the Institute, Akrom Toshpulatov, highly appreciated the activities of the UNDP in Uzbekistan and stressed the importance of cooperation with this body. As it was noted, the development of any field primarily depends on scientific achievements and research results. From this perspective, the Institute’s partnership with international structures plays a crucial role in providing information and analytical support to deputies and contributing to the development of the national parliament.

The meeting resulted in an agreement to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between the organizations, as well as an arrangement for interaction in the implementation of research projects.
