Minister of Health Amrillo Inoyatov met with the Acting Director for CDC Central Asia Justin Williams, the Ministry of Health reports.

It was noted that cooperation between the two countries in medicine is further strengthening. The ongoing joint projects serve to further develop this area in Uzbekistan.

As noted, on behalf of the Head of state, relevant projects are being effectively implemented to combat coronavirus and other infectious diseases, organize vaccination, ensure sanitary and epidemiological safety and other areas.

This year, within the framework of cooperation, it is planned to increase the knowledge and skills of medical workers in conducting epidemiological investigations, analyzing scientific data and taking the necessary measures against dangerous infectious diseases through the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP).

At the meeting, it was decided to take cooperation to a new level, including providing technical assistance to develop a National Action Plan to eliminate viral hepatitis B and C in Uzbekistan, enhance collaboration to identify circulating strains of COVID-19 and launch the Antimicrobial Resistance Project.
