Cooperation in the energy sector to strengthen

The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with members of the delegation led by World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde, the Ministry of Energy reports.

The parties focused on reforms in the energy sector being implemented in Uzbekistan with the support of international financial institutions, including the use of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency and energy conservation, and plans for the development of the energy sector. Information was also given on projects aimed at developing the energy market and integration between Central Asian countries.

It was noted that this year it is planned to use renewable energy systems with a total capacity of 4,300 MW, including large solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 2,100 MW, solar panels with a capacity of 1,200 MW installed at social facilities, buildings and structures, mini photoelectric power plants with a capacity of 550 MW, which will be built by entrepreneurs.

In addition, programs for the development of power supply and distribution systems, promising projects for the construction of high-voltage transformers and 5,000 kilometers of high-voltage power transmission networks for the coming years were presented at the meeting.

Anna Bjerde highly appreciated the reforms carried out in this area, especially in the spread of green energy, the use of renewable energy sources, and noted her readiness to further strengthen cooperation in all areas. She also expressed interest in considering the necessary measures for the development of power supply and distribution networks, financing projects in this direction.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed on further developing cooperation in the energy sector.
