Cooperation in human rights

On the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the founding of the institution of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman), an international conference on “Cooperation in the reliable protection of human rights and freedoms” kicked off in Samarkand.

The conference is organized by the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) jointly with the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan and the USAID Legal Reform Program.

The forum is attended by representatives of authorized bodies and international organizations for the protection of human rights and freedoms from about 20 foreign countries, including the ombudsmen of Portugal, Serbia, Hungary, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Russia, Thailand, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as members of diplomatic missions.

The event is also attended by members of the Senate and deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, representatives of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts, the Prosecutor General’s Office, employees of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs, Justice, and the National Center for Human Rights.
