The Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan organized a scientific and practical workshop on “Development and management of dams (promoting digitalization)”.
The event took place at the Uzbekistan – Japan Youth Innovation Center. It was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, scientists and specialists in the sphere, employees of the Japanese Embassy in Uzbekistan, the representative office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Uzbekistan, several Japanese companies, and students.
The Deputy Minister of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilshodjon Khojiakhmedov, the Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan for International Projects Seiichi Onodera, and others addressed the event. It was noted that, as part of several projects in water management, close cooperation has been established between Uzbekistan and Japan to prevent natural disasters and provide quality infrastructure.
Reports from Uzbekistan and Japanese scientists were heard on strengthening the prevention of emergencies, ensuring the seismic resistance of dams, managing dams and promoting their digitalization, and the safe flow of water from the upstream to the downstream (warning systems).
As part of the workshop, business meetings were held between representatives of about 10 Uzbekistan and Japanese companies.
