14:29 / 2024-04-16

An international event aimed at strengthening the activities and sharing the experiences of the Ombudsmen of the Central Asian States has begun at the University of Helsinki in Finland.

The event, organized jointly with the Center for the Rule of Law at the University of Helsinki and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, is attended by the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova. Ombudsmen and employees of the Offices of the Commissioners for Human Rights of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan are also attending the event.

The main goal of this event, which will be held on April 15-19 this year, is to develop international cooperation between the Ombudsmen of Finland and Central Asian countries in human rights, exchange experience on modern mechanisms for the protection of human rights, and organize discussions on current issues.

As part of the visit to Finland, it is planned to hold several international meetings and become familiar with the activities of penitentiary institutions.
