Medical, cultural and commercial services are provided for those working in fields. In order to ensure cotton pickers’ meaningful recreation, various cultural enlightenment events and entertainment programmes are being arranged.

Doctors and nurses of the “Ozbekiston” village medical station in Mirzachul District are providing good quality medical services for cotton pickers.

“In cooperation with qualified specialists from district and regional health care establishments who came to our territory, we are paying special attention to protecting cotton pickers’ health. Medical workers are constantly monitoring the quality of drinking water and sanitary conditions in field shelters, sleeping accommodations and temporary canteens in the field. Responsible medical workers are stationed in all the 10 field shelters and sleeping accommodations, and medicines and medical items are being provided,” says the chairperson of this village medical station, Muqaddam Toraqulova.

The region’s health directorate has worked out a programme of special measures to provide medical services for cotton pickers. In accordance with this programme, a working group consisting of leading specialists and officials of this sphere is working to protect cotton pickers’ health and to ensure that sanitary requirements are met at field shelters, temporary canteens and sleeping accommodations for the duration of the cotton harvesting season. Special boxes containing cotton wool, roller bandages, iodine and other medical items used for medical first aid are provided to all the field shelters and sleeping accommodations there.
