Bukhara hosted an international roundtable discussion on “Priorities of the Constitutional reform: Uzbekistan – a social state".
The event was attended by responsible persons and employees of the Ministries of Employment and Poverty Reduction, Preschool and School Education, Youth Policy and Sports, Health, UNICEF Office in Uzbekistan, deputies of the local Council of People’s Deputies, republican government bodies, civil society institutions, as well as media representatives and experts from scientific and educational institutions.
The event was organized by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms to explain the changing role of the state in the socio-economic life of society, its tasks and responsibilities in managing the social sphere, discuss the Uzbek model of the social state, the features of its formation and further development.
Speaking at the event, the Hokim of Bukhara region Botir Zaripov noted that by changing the Constitution of the previously existing principle “state – society – person” to the principle “person – society – state”, a goal was set that provides for the priority of a person.
The participants of the event discussed the constitutional foundations for reforming and developing the healthcare system, preschool and school education, strengthening the status of teachers, as well as the long-term tasks of the state as the most important areas of the welfare state policy.
The participants of the event noted that the consolidation of the principle “New Uzbekistan – a social state” as a constitutional norm at the referendum will become an important political event for the country.
