Andijan State University hosted a roundtable discussion on “Constitutional reforms – the requirement of the time”.
The event was organized on the initiative of the Andijan Regional Council of the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businesspeople – Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the region’s universities. It was attended by professors, deputies, party activists, entrepreneurs, media representatives and students.
The participants exchanged views on the implementation of constitutional reforms, development of a free, democratic civil society, improvement of the constitutional framework. Suggestions were made to adapt the Constitution to the realities of society, to the process of democratic reforms. The main attention was paid to the proposals made by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his speech at the joint session of the Oliy Majlis chambers and his congratulatory message on the occasion of the Constitution Day.
“In recent years, political, economic, social and legal democratic reforms aimed at building a new Uzbekistan, the formation of a free and just civil society are being carried out in Uzbekistan”, Khurshidakhon Khalilova, Chairperson of the UzLiDeP Andijan Regional Council said. Urgent and new tasks are put on the agenda taking into account the requirements of globalization, digitalization, climate change, rapid development, further modernization of the country, strengthening peace, stability and national independence. Adapting our Constitution to today’s requirements will further strengthen the legal foundations of our lives, and open a wide way to further development.
The participants of the event discussed several current issues that need to be given priority in the process of constitutional reforms. The participants made proposals on this and several other issues.
