Congratulations from the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan
16:42 / 2022-02-05

Today, on 5 February, Uzbekistan National News Agency – UzA celebrates its 30th anniversary.

In this regard, the Agency continues to receive congratulations from foreign partners – news agencies of various countries and international organizations.

– On behalf of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), I am honored to congratulate the Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA) and its readers with the celebration of its 30th anniversary. The professional work carried out by UzA and its able staff, both in Tashkent as well as in the regions, is a key part of the large-scale reforms happening in new Uzbekistan.

Since my arrival in Uzbekistan, I have witnessed the efforts of UzA in considering the needs of the readers and providing high-level quality news, as well as in ensuring publications in different national and foreign languages. I welcome aspirations of UzA to provide quality information and to reinforce its analytical capacities, hence placing UzA as a leading, credible and efficient source of information in Central Asia. The OSCE States, to which Uzbekistan is an active member, committed themselves to uphold freedom of the media and guarantee their citizens the right to free expression, while providing quality information.

New technologies have a fundamental influence on online media. The media world is developing and evolving at a fast pace; UzA’s flexibility makes it able to evolve and develop its activities in a professional and ethical manner. As Uzbekistan continues to develop and take a greater seat on the international scene, the media landscape should therefore adapt, while maintaining high level of professionalism, accuracy and in-depth information.

Once again, congratulations to UzA for its 30th anniversary! The OSCE Project Co-ordinator team in Uzbekistan and myself are looking forward to strengthening the long-standing and fruitful cooperation with UzA as a leading public news agency ensuring high quality information.

Ambassador, Dr. Pierre von Arx,
