Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova met with a delegation of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom led by its Chair Nadine Maenza.

According to the Press Service of the Commissioner, during the conversation, the guests were informed about the activities of the Ombudsman Institute in Uzbekistan and the reforms implemented in the country in recent years in human rights.

The parties discussed the monitoring visits to penitentiary institutions within the framework of the National Preventive Mechanism, the participation of civil society institutions and media workers in them, and the work carried out to prevent torture.

Nadine Maenza thanked for the warm welcome and, noting the positive changes in Uzbekistan, expressed readiness for cooperation.
