Namangan district electoral commission No 6 for the elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has held its scheduled session.

The event was attended by experts of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis (parliament), representatives of the regional department of justice and the Namangan regional department of the independent institute for monitoring civil society formation. At the event, there was discussion about issues of preparing polling stations for voting, arranging voting on election day and vote counting at polling stations.

“Electoral commission members are given detailed explanations during training seminars being held in towns and districts. Such events are being held from 20 to 30 November by an expert group comprising legal experts and relevant specialists. At those events, information is given about changes and additions made to the law `On elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan’ and about processes of early voting and arranging voting on election day, vote counting as well as powers of international and local observers and rules regulating precinct commissions’ work,” says the chairman of Namangan district electoral commission No 6, P.Matkarimov.

In accordance with the effective legislation, one observer from each of the political parties which put forward candidates for President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of the press, television and radio and observers from other countries and international organizations may take part in events relating to the preparation and conduct of the elections and be in polling stations and in rooms for vote counting on election day.
