The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed the Decree “On additional measures to combat human trafficking and the widespread introduction of decent work principles”.

According to this, the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Forced Labor will be reorganized into the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Decent Work.

The following are identified among the main tasks of the National Commission:

– coordination of the activities of republican executive authorities, civil society institutions, non-governmental non-profit, and other organizations in combating human trafficking, comprehensive support for persons affected by it, as well as the widespread introduction of the principles of decent work, international labor standards, protection of the labor rights of citizens;

– organizing the development and implementation of programs to counteract people, social support for those affected by it, the widespread introduction of the principles of decent work, and the protection of the labor rights of citizens;

– analysis, assessment, monitoring of the effectiveness of measures taken in combating human trafficking, and the widespread implementation of the principles of decent work, as well as increasing the efficiency of work in this direction, in particular, the development of proposals and recommendations for improving legislation in the sphere.

The Commission will also take measures to develop international and regional cooperation in this area, reduce the number of cases of unregulated labor migration, improve practices in identifying, investigating, preventing, and eradicating crimes related to human trafficking, and provide rehabilitation and reintegration services to victims, studying international experience, collecting, analyzing information and preparing reports in combating human trafficking and introducing the principles of decent work.
