Samarkand hosts the 21st Session of the UNCCD Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC-21).

The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva read out the greetings of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the session participants.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres sent greetings.

Almost 500 representatives from 196 countries are participating in the event, which will run until November 17.

The meeting is one of the most important since adopting the UN Convention to Combat Desertification.
