Uzbekistan’s collaboration with the World Tourism Organization – UNWTO has enhanced significantly, especially in the last 2-3 years.

On June 25, 2020, the 65th Meeting of the UNWTO Commission for Europe was held online under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan. The regional conference participants discussed the negative impact of the pandemic on the tourism sector and overcoming its consequences.

It can be said that the 24th session of the UNWTO General Assembly, held on December 2, 2021, in Madrid, Spain, opened an entirely new page in Uzbekistan’s cooperation with this structure. At this event, Samarkand was chosen by vote to host the next session of this prestigious organization.

On May 29, 2023, the Agreement on holding the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly and the Memorandum on establishing the UNWTO International Academy of Tourism in Samarkand was signed.
