Hokim of Fergana region Khayrullo Bozarov has met with the President of the Latvian Higher School of Management and Information Systems – ISMA University Romans Djakons and Head of Fergana branch of the university Sandra Plota.
Fergana branch of the Latvian Higher School of Management and Information Systems is the first international university organized in the region. 175 people from the regions of Uzbekistan are trained in information technology, tourism and business management.
The parties discussed the prospects for training specialists to increase the tourism potential of Fergana, personnel for the hotel and restaurant business in the region. Proposals were made for the construction of a modern library, a hostel for students, the introduction of international scholarship programs, the organization of an international school that will specialize in in-depth teaching of the English language.
“Our university is the first Latvian university to open its branch in foreign countries”, says Professor Romans Djakons. – Our branch in Fergana has been operating for three years. Last year, 10 quotas for a state grant were allocated, and from the new academic year, 10 residents of Fergana will be able to study free of charge based on a competition of the regional hokimiyat. In addition, students can continue their studies in Latvia.
The Hokim of the region noted that he would always support the guests’ proposals aimed at the development of international higher education in Fergana by further enhancing the activities of the ISMA University. He expressed his readiness to provide assistance and cooperation in this direction.
