The CIS Executive Committee hosted a working meeting of the heads of the largest film studios of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Representatives of the CIS Executive Committee film production experts, representatives of ministries and agencies of the Commonwealth countries also took part in the discussion.
The participants summed up the results of joint work and announced the prospects for cooperation.
“We welcome the initiative to unite cinematographers of the CIS countries and are ready to support projects aimed at further uniting efforts in the film production of our countries. Preserving a common humanitarian and cultural space remains one of the main priorities for cooperation between the Commonwealth member states”, said Alexey Sazonov, Head of the Department of Humanitarian Cooperation, General Political and Social Problems of the CIS Executive Committee.
The participants of the meeting – film studios – presented projects aimed at developing cooperation.
It was emphasized that several documentary films of joint production, including on the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, had already been released on some Russian TV channels. Viewers will see several new feature films in May-June this year.
At the meeting, Uzbekistan Cinematography Agency presented the results of the 13th Tashkent International Film Festival and announced plans for the 14th festival to be held in September this year.
Representatives of 10 countries noted the high level of holding the Tashkent International Film Festival in 2021 and designated it as an example of holding film events in the participating countries.
Uzbekistan delegation also informed that Tashkent hosts the First Animation Film Festival these days. An animated film “Khoja Nasreddin” is being shot together with Bazelevs, which is being created by Uzbekistan, Russia and Kazakhstan. The memorandum on the creation of the animated film was signed during the Tashkent International Film Festival.
