International Innovation Center for the Aral Sea Basin under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, has been cooperating for several years with the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (XIEG) in the implementation of environmental projects.

On May 9, 2023, a meeting with a delegation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and this institute took place at the International Innovation Center for the Aral Sea Basin.

At the meeting, the importance of bilateral strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and China was noted, promising projects for the integrated development of the Aral Sea region were proposed, and the introduction of environmental products and technologies was also presented.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to the discussion of measures implemented in Uzbekistan to improve the environmental situation in the region. The guests were also informed about the reforms carried out by the President and the Government of Uzbekistan to eliminate the negative consequences of drying up the Aral Sea and improve socio-economic indicators in the Aral Sea region.

Members of the delegation got acquainted with the implementation of state programs for greening the dried-up bottom of the Aral Sea, as well as projects carried out at the Muynak research and production site of the International Innovation Center for the Aral Sea Basin in cooperation with China. 

Following the meeting, promising directions and specific tasks were defined to establish closer cooperation between the parties in restoring the Aral Sea region.
