15:09 / 2025-12-07

According to the Xinhua News Agency, a group of Chinese archaeologists from the Shanxi Province Cultural Heritage Research and Protection Company and the School of Archaeology and Museology at Shanxi University arrived in Uzbekistan to carry out archaeological activities.

This transnational initiative, implemented jointly with the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology and Fergana State University, is aimed at in-depth scientific research of ancient Akhsikent. In particular, trial excavations are planned at Mingtepa and Arsif cemetery.

The location of ancient cities in the south of the valley, their construction methods, and funerary traditions will be studied. This will lay the groundwork for strengthening historical-cultural exchanges between China and Central Asia and enriching the chronicles of the civilizations of these countries. The project will end on December 30.
