Chess: World Championship may take place in Tashkent in December
The following World Rapid Chess Championship may take place in Tashkent in the last days of December.
Representatives of the FIDE Commission got acquainted with the relevant complexes and necessary facilities. According to the regulations, FIDE must finance half the cost of the World Championship. The Uzbek side will finance the rest. This World Championship was supposed to take place in India, but many chess players and representatives of the FIDE Executive Committee put forward a proposal to hold the competition in Uzbekistan or the UAE.
Last year, the championship took place in Kazakhstan. The winner in rapid and blitz was Magnus Carlsen.
