Chess: Rustam Kasimdzhanov’s international tournament begins

On March 27, the international tournament of world chess champion Rustam Kasimdzhanov with a prize fund of $70 thousand starts in the city of Tashkent.

About 20 of the world’s strongest chess players from nine countries arrived in Tashkent to participate in the tournament. The tournament will consist of nine rounds. Competitions will be organized in the Challenger and Masters groups.

The Masters group, along with Uzbekistan’s young talented grandmasters such as Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Javokhir Sindorov, Jakhongir Vokhidov, also includes other well-known chess players in the world – Azerbaijani Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Dutch chess grandmaster Jorden van Foreest, Iranian Parham Maghsoodloo.

Five of Uzbekistan’s young chess players, as well as five foreign players from Russia, Germany and China, will take part in the Challenger group.

The competition will run until March 30.
