Competitions of the division III championship in Rugby began at the Dustlik stadium in Tashkent region.

The competition was organized jointly by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, National Olympic Committee, the Rugby Federation of Uzbekistan and the Asian Rugby Union (ARFU).

Rugby is one of the popular sports in the world. Today, athletes actively engaged in this type of sports in more than one hundred countries. In 2009, the discipline of Rugby 7 by the decision of the International Olympic Committee was included in the program of the XXXI summer Olympic Games 2016 to be held in Brazil.

The Rugby Federation of Uzbekistan organized in 2004, became a member of the Asian Rugby Union in 2006, and on 14 May 2014 – full member of the International Rugby Union. The Federation has conducted significant work on the further development of this sport, its popularization among the population, especially among youth.

Championships of our country and various tournaments with the participation of male and female teams are being held regularly. Special attention is paid to the organization of trainings and tournaments in accordance with modern requirements, the selection of talented athletes, able to show high results in the international arena, as well as strengthening the material-technical base of national teams and international relations.

The resolution of the President of our country on the preparation of athletes of Uzbekistan for the XXXI summer Olympic & XV Paralympics 2016 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) from 25 February 2013 serves as an important guide to action in this direction.

Members of our Rugby team regularly take part in the competitions on a continental level.

Women's national team in 2008 has won bronze medals of the Asian championship Rugby 15. In 2012, in Pakistan, the representatives of Uzbekistan took the third place at the international Rugby 7 tournament with the participation of 6 teams of our continent, as well as invited teams from Ireland and New Zealand. Our team participated worthily in the Asian championship Rugby 7 among athletes under the age of 20 years, held in 2013 in Malaysia. Last year, our women's team had improved their experience and skills through participation in the XVII Asian games in the South Korean city Incheon.

In March, women's national team of Uzbekistan has won the international tournament Asian Olympic Pre-Qualifier, held in Chennai (India). Now, our athletes will take part in the qualifying competitions which will take place in November this year in Hong Kong and Tokyo, where they will compete for a license of coming in 2016 XXXI summer Olympic Games in Brazil.

Rugby teams of Uzbekistan and India competing in the current competitions of the division III championship. The winner will participate in the competition of the playoff for the division II.
